Powering a global digital presence with Altis Cloud
At Altis Cloud, we help enterprises build digital platforms that are secure, compliant, flexible, and forward-thinking. Nowhere is this more evident than in our long-standing partnership with Standard Chartered. As one of the world’s leading banks and the only global bank operating entirely on WordPress, Standard Chartered runs its global marketing and product sites on Altis Cloud, delivering secure, dynamic digital experiences across every market they serve.

A flexible foundation for innovation
Our partnership began in 2016, at a time when many enterprise hosting solutions offered a one-size-fits-all approach. Standard Chartered needed something different. The bank faced complex and evolving requirements and needed a platform that could grow with them. They were looking for a partner who could support an enterprise-grade multisite setup, stay ahead of changing regulations, and integrate with existing systems.
Altis Cloud was that partner.
From the start, we prioritized flexibility and compliance. Financial services is a fast-moving industry, particularly when it comes to regulation. We didn’t just keep up with these changes. We built the capacity to stay ahead of them. As part of our work with Standard Chartered, we became an OSPAR-certified service provider, enabling a tailored deployment that fit the bank’s compliance needs across global markets. Outsourced Service Provider Audit Report (OSPAR) is a report that complies with The Association of Banks in Singapore’s (ABS) guidelines. (Check out the FAQ on ABS guidelines here.)
What began as a hosting project quickly evolved into a long-term strategic partnership. As the cloud hosting landscape advanced in 2016 and 2017, we built rigorous compliance practices to ensure the bank could meet international standards without compromising innovation.

Meeting complex needs across global markets
Standard Chartered operates in a diverse range of jurisdictions, each with its own regulations for data and hosting. With Altis Cloud, the bank gained a platform that could adapt to these local requirements while maintaining performance, security, and consistency across regions.
Our ability to integrate with Standard Chartered’s wider technology ecosystem, including services like Akamai, was a key success factor. This integration ensures smooth operations and a unified user experience across all of the bank’s websites.
We began by supporting Standard Chartered’s retail banking division, which accounts for over 90% of their total web traffic. A pilot project on the Singapore site served as a test case and delivered strong results. On the strength of that success, the bank extended its use of the Altis platform across all global websites.

Today, Altis Cloud powers 61 retail banking websites with more than 2,400 backend users, making it our largest deployment in terms of contributors. In addition, we manage 550 non-retail websites, supporting around 200 backend users. These operate across two main instances—retail and non-retail—demonstrating the scale and flexibility of the Altis Cloud platform.

We offered a platform with a very efficient solution that allows their internal team to grow the site and become experts in the technology.

From static pages to dynamic experiences
One of our first initiatives with Standard Chartered was to help them transition from a legacy OpenText TeamSite environment. At the time, their websites were managed using static HTML files delivered through a content delivery network (CDN).
We helped the bank move to a fully dynamic WordPress setup, built on a robust content architecture designed for modern digital experience management. This gave them the ability to manage complex content, deliver updates in real time, and significantly improve their overall agility.
Altis Cloud also helped consolidate their infrastructure. Instead of managing separate instances for each individual site, we streamlined operations under a single multisite setup. This reduced complexity, increased efficiency, and ensured compliance with local regulations in every market.

Shaping the future together
Our work with Standard Chartered continues to be defined by innovation, collaboration, and shared ambition.

“Our relationship with Standard Chartered has been hugely innovative and fruitful and has allowed us to push each other to the frontier of technology.”

Ryan McCue, Director of Product, Altis Cloud
Today, Altis Cloud stores tens of terabytes of data for the bank, supporting critical digital operations around the world. We have built a solution that fits seamlessly into their wider digital strategy, enabling their teams to operate at scale while remaining agile and compliant.

A trusted partner for enterprise growth
Altis Cloud continues to stand out as a partner of choice for enterprises that demand flexibility, compliance, and innovation. Our work with Standard Chartered shows what is possible when technology is built around the needs of the organization.
As we look to the future, we remain committed to supporting Standard Chartered and other enterprise clients on their digital journeys, empowering them to lead in a digital-first world.
