As the web and AI evolve, we’ve seen large increases in automated traffic directed towards the sites we host. This isn’t unique to Altis – across the web, everyone is seeing major changes to the shape of traffic, with Cloudflare reporting that the majority of their traffic is now driven by bots rather than humans.
A big focus at Altis throughout our recent releases has been providing more visibility and control to help customers manage the impact of bot traffic. We’ve already added the ability to manage IP and user-agent blocks directly, as well as launching Advanced Traffic Management. We’ve also added additional reporting tools including the new Traffic screen.
This month, we’re launching self-service Traffic Management, providing control over traffic to everyone. You’ll now be able to control traffic at a per-category level without needing to use individual user agents – including blocking the traffic entirely, or requiring a CAPTCHA to access the page.

Alongside client-type categories, we’re also integrating automated signal detection, which can identify clients connecting from known data center IPs or using non-browser user-agents.
Traffic Management provides 14 categories and 3 signals, with 3 actions (allow, block, and CAPTCHA) available for each category. You’ll find full details on the categories, signals, and actions in our documentation – your account manager can also provide more information about how this affects your account.
For our customers with Advanced Traffic Management, you’ll be able to select an additional Challenge option, which will run an automated challenge in the background of the user’s browser, minimizing interruptions. You’ll also be able to apply actions based on machine learning-based targeted rules, including more advanced signals and heuristics for detecting bad browsers, with 11 additional categories and signals.

We’re working to add additional categories and actions, including the ability to automatically monetize AI traffic using the emerging x402 web standard. If you’re interested in becoming a pilot customer for the monetization feature, contact your account manager to learn more.
